Artist statement
I was born an artist and art is my first language.
I am inspired by the human figure as means to express all facets of human emotions. I utilise my Japanese heritage and influences infused with western techniques and styles in a variety of mediums; drawing, painting and printmaking. My photography is predominately inspired by nature.
Each medium has unique qualities, therefore, I choose the mediums that aesthetically expresses my themes.
Aesthetically, my artwork also explores the understated minimalism and pictorial space contrasting with intimate and fine details.
My artistic influences are Michelangelo, Hidekichi Shigemoto and les Fauves sense of colour.
