What does 'making space' mean to you?
‘Making space’ has two connotations to me. It can describe the space where I feel free to make stuff, where I can play around with the making process. And it also means I value the making process and I WILL make space in my life for craft and art.

What did you make/do at King Billy?
I tried dyeing silk scarves with natural barks and leaves, with only limited success. I learned by doing and that’s the best way. I drew leaves and bark and trees and I photographed fascinating textures of man-made and natural surfaces. One I particularly liked was a stack of sheets of old corrugated iron in subtle shades of muted pinks, greens, blues and greys. I also polished off some yummy hot food and soup!

What was your favourite part of the day?
I loved wandering around the peaceful box-ironbark forest, relaxed chatting with friends, seeing a strange procession of vintage tractors driven by enthusiasts buzzing past … and did I mention the yummy food?
